Excellent News At Last – Granted ‘Artistic Licence’

After a long wait (and several disappointments from other authors’ agents who will currently remain nameless!!!) we have been granted a 6 months ‘Artistic Licence’ to adapt much-loved book of folk tales into series of mini-musicals. These are designed to be another ‘combine and perform’ series to allow for creative teams to design their own performances. Watch this space for progress updates. Very pleased indeed, now working on detailed revisions and planning for actor-reading-performances.

Reading Performance Of Stuff And Nonsense

As part of a ‘By Us For Us‘ development’ opportunity for members of Thornbury Musical Theatre Group (TMTG) we ran a series of 3 creative workshops followed by a reading performance on stage of our revised Stuff And Nonsense The Musical. Thanks for Keith, Peter, Donna, Mel, Julia, Jen, Mike and Angie for putting so much work in developing character and pace. A brilliant evening, full of fun as can be seen in the photos.

The Audacity Of It

Fantastic couple of days working with the best sound engineer – Ian Gregorig – to render down audio tracks from our ‘Edward Lear’s Nonsense Poems For Performance‘ studio recordings. Learnt a lot, laughed a lot, put the world to rights and ended up with an excellent set of balanced recordings. The Jumblies will very excited when they get to hear them! Thanks soooooo much, Ian. N.B Brilliant software Audacity – can’t believe it’s free!

Beating My Christmas Deadline

Hooray, set myself the deadline of self-publishing latest musical, ‘Danny, The Champion Of The World‘ by Christmas, and, made it with a day to spare! A special word of thanks to Adam Elms who again provided invaluable feedback as script consultant. If Adam’s happy with it, so am I!

In a form fit to share with Roald Dahl Estate to see if they’re interested in granting ‘artistic licence.’ Fingers very crossed. Watch this space.

Jumblies Into The Studio …

Into The Jumblies Christmas Spirit

Into the studio last weekend for recording solos and duets for both our musicals ‘Stuff And Nonsense The Musical’ and ‘Stuff And Nonsense At Christmas‘. Great fun and a very successful start. Thankyou tumbly Jumblies! On now with rehearsing all the Jumbly Chorus sections. Amazing commitment from everyone to produce characterful recordings in difficult circumstances. Amazing.

That’s the easy part – the challenge of mixing down awaits! Goodee.
